=============================================================
Camogie Selection from U13, 14, 15, 16 made a trip on Sunday 11th Oct to Narraghmore Co Kildare to play a selection from local club St Laurences. A very even game ensued with St Laurences (aided by three brave Na Fianna girls) winning by 2 points. The Narraghmore girls are mentored by ex-Na Fianna camogie stalwart Ann Byrne. Further trips there and back are a distinct possibility. Well done to u15s Aoife, Erin, Emma, Mary, Sadhbh and especially Megan who scored the crucial goal (for Narraghmore!). And thanks and well done to Ciana U16, Aisling U14, Aoife, Ellen, Laura, Vanessa, Ciara and the other U13s (sorry I can't find the names!).

Na Fianna 2-2 Oliver Plunketts 5-10. Johnstown Pk, Sunday 24th May
Probably our best performance of the year so far. Mary opened the scoring with a lovely point from a 45. Aoife was captain and Laoch na himeartha was Eimear S who added to her renowned defending capacity with some nifty running with sliotar on stick. A late revival saw Róisín and Anna adding two goals and a point. Well done all. A break now from competitive action till September. Hopefully some friendlies and U16b action in the meantime.

BEIRIGÍ BUA SAN FHÉILE, A CHAILÍNÍ FAOI 14
Wed 6th May: Friendly - Na Fianna U14 Vs Na Fianna U15/16b
A mix of U15s and U16bs played a good friendly against our U14 Féile team. The match was tight with the U14s coming out on top despite a late comeback from the 15s/16bs. Good preparation for the U14s. Last year the Féile team made the semi-finals. This year, no doubt they can go two steps further and win the Division 2 Féile outright.
WE WISH EVERY LUCK TO THE U14S IN THE FÉILE ON 23RD AND 24TH MAY. YOU CAN WIN IT GIRLS!

Sun 17th May Johnstown Pk: Na Fianna 0-0 Lucan 7-15
Well beaten again by the best U15 camogie team in Ireland. But Never Say Die was the motto in word in deed for Na Fianna as the girls grafted and grafted, hassled and harried and valiantly defended all through. Excellent performances from Róisín and Erin in goal; Sadhbh, Michelle and Eimear S in the full back line; Béibhinn, Isabelle and Theresa at half back; Mary and Erin in midfield; Anna, Eimear D, Megan and Aoife in the half forwards and Lucy, Niamh and Sarah full forwards. Still a lot of work to be done for us to reach Div 1 standard but games like this will help us to be at least competitive against the other teams in the Division.

Friendly: Na Fianna U15/16b 4-5 Naomh Barróg 5-4. Johnstown 30th April
A most enjoyable, close-fought friendly. Six under 16s and eleven under 15s played. We tried Isabel, Béibhinn and Michelle in the forwards for a change. Mairéad B was captain and addressed our friends from Barróg eloquently after the game. Erin's excellent line ball striking was a feature as was Eimear's tight marking of Barróg star Michelle in the second half. The lead changed hands several times during the game and Anna's shot came off the crossbar and bounced on the goal line and out - which fact has been confirmed in the video replay. We were that close to victory but this was a great workout for everyone. U16b will meet Barróg in the league - that should be another good contest. Well done Niamh, 2 Mairéads, Ciana, Rosemary of U16b and Sarah, Sinéad, Aoife, Róisín, Aisling, Mary and all of u15. Well done Helen for coming out to support. And the team management of Anne, Hannah and Margaret.

Na Fianna 1-0 St Judes 5-5 Mobhi Road Back Pitch, Sunday 26th April
Another excellent performance from Na Fianna U15. Not good enough to win but genuine effort and skill shown by all 15 who turned out. Michelle was captain and excelled from start to finish, repelling attack after attack from Judes. Best game of the year so far from both Aisling and Eimear S at corner back. Karen made her first appearance of the year for us and kept the pressure on Jude's excellent centre back all through. Jude's also welcomed back Sophie after a long spell of injury and she obliged with the first two scores for the visitors. Mentors Declan, Seosamh, Margaret and Una were all very pleased with the progress shown in this performance. Hard training over the summer could make us competitive in the Autumn.

Naomh Mearnóg 5-3 Na Fianna 0-3 Sunday 19th April, 11am
A much improved display from Na Fianna. 16 players available with goalie, Helen, recovering from an operation, Sadhbh sick and Theresa out of action for a few weeks too. All sixteen grafted hard from start to finish. We were unlucky to be 3-1 to 0-0 down at half time as Mearnóg scored a goal with the last poc of the first half. Isabelle excelled at centre half. Aoife returned after her operation and was player of the game, getting in to the action and lifting and striking well throughout. Erin took over in goal in the second half and released Róisín to score our first point. Anna chipped in with two more. Sarah was captain for the day and worked hard and addressed the team at half time. D'imir gach éinne go maith, rinne gach cailín a dícheall. Sin an méid atá uainn. Tiocfaidh feabhas ar na torthaí má leanann muid ar aghaidh mar sin.

Ouch mór eile dúinn. It's gonna be a long season! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
U15 volunteers welcome for U16 Div 3 League Game v Setanta. Saturday 4th April in Johnstown Park. Meet in Johnstown 11.20 for 12 noon throw in.
Well done to the four panellists who turned out for the Na Fianna U16b team on Saturday 28th March. U15 players always welcome to turn out for u16b if they wish. The more matches we play the better...
Vincents 7-9 Na Fianna 0-0. Sunday 29th March. Johnstown Park
A much better all-round performance from Na Fianna in our third league game of the season. We started on the attack and managed several assaults on the Vincents goal during the game. This St Vincents team are possibly the second best U15 club camogie team in Ireland - so no shame at all in this result for the newly-promoted Na Fianna team. Every player worked her socks off throughout. Star performances from all of the defence right up to the half-forward line. Laoch na himeartha was Sinéad who really got stuck in when she came on as a sub in the corner back position. Great effort and skill shown too by Megan once again. Sadhbh at full forward got stuck in to what little ball made it to near the Vincent's goal. Ba í Máire Ní Bhrádaigh captaen an lae agus í ag imirt i gcoinne a sheanchomrádaithe Naomh Uinsionn.
Beidh lá agus laethanta eile againn. Tá jab le déanamh againn i mbliana: traenáil, treanáil, cleachtadh is taithí. An sprioc: A bheith níos fearr mar imreoirí camógaíochta, níos aclaí agus níos fearr mar fhoireann ionas go mbeimid in ann do Sraith a hAon arís an bhliain seo chugainn. Agus b'fhéidir cluiche nó dhó a bhuachaint roimhe sin! We will have other days. We have a job to do this year: train, train, practice and get experience. The aim: To be better camogie players, fitter and a better team so that we are able for Division One next year. And maybe to win a game or two before then!

POSTPONED Home League game Vs Naomh Mearnóg, Sunday 22nd March POSTPONED

U15 League Division 1, Sunday 15th March: St Judes 9-3 Na Fianna 1-1
Not the result we were hoping for (!) but Judes were full value for the win. We were down a few players as this was St Patrick's weekend. But we still put out a good team. It was just that we never got going and we let Judes get an early grip on the game which they never relinquished. Sadhbh was captain but again at full forward she got little chance to show what she can do. Helen was back in goal and was player of the game with some great saves. Anna chipped in with two lovely scores. Hard to fault this Na Fianna side for effort but a lot of work needs to be put in at training and we need to up our fitness levels if we are to give Division 1 a rattle as we promised at the start of the season.
====================================================
U15 League Division 1, Sunday 8th March: Lucan Sarsfields A 10-6 Na Fianna 0-0
We were given a masterclass by Lucan, last year's national Féile champions. Their first touch and general camogie skills were peerless. But that didn't stop the recently-promoted Na Fianna team from constant effort from start to finish. We spoiled and we harried and when we could we showed that we too have skill and can play. Megan was captain and put in 100% effort throughout. Róisín was in goal in the first half as Helen was sick. And Eleanor was in goal in the second. Both made several excellent saves and clearances. Sinéad and Sarah worked their socks off. The full forward line had a difficult time with little ball to work with. Michelle at full back had a real handful to deal with in Lucan's excellent full forward. Liam Ryan of Lucan addressed us at the end and gave us some pointers as to how they have reached the highest level. We'll continue working to join them there soon!

Na Fianna 1-0 Naomh Mearnóg 6-2
Back Pitch Mobhi Road, Sunday 1st March, Throw in 11am
Match Report: A salutary lesson given by Naomh Mearnóg on a difficult day in Bóthar Mobhi. Na Fianna were somewhat lucky to go in at half time 1-0 to 0-1 in the lead. However, Mearnóg's superior fitness showed in the second half as Na Fianna ran out of steam. Top class performance all through from player of the game at full back Michelle Gahan. We were missing a few good players but still need to work harder if we are to challenge Mearnóg in the league.
======================================================
Na Fianna 3-2 Whitehall 3-2
Mobhi Road Back Pitch, Sunday Feb 22nd, Throw in 11.30am
Match Report: A good workout in our first game of the season. 18 players turned out and we rotated to ensure everyone got lots of pitch time. Mary made her debut and was captain for the day. Anne and Margaret made their debuts as mentors and performed excellently throughout. We experimented with positions and mixed and matched. We started stronger and scores from Isabelle and Anna had us ahead 2-2 to 0-1 at half time. Whitehall blitzed us early in the second half to take the lead but a hard-earned goal from Megan brought us level again. Great effort put in by all. Star performances from Sarah, Eimear S and Sinéad.
