U21 Hurling
13/12/03
Na Fianna 4-11 Round Towers 2-7
Fantastic win in O'Toole Park today to claim the Under 21B Dublin Hurling Championship. It is the club's first Hurling Championship win at this grade.
Fantastic crowd out at the game, and we, the players and management are very grateful as always for the huge support we got. It does make it easier in the last ten minutes when what seemed like thousands of club members are cheering us on!!
Great team performance from one to twenty-four. Special mention must go to Peadar O Laoire who finished the game with 2-9 of our total.
We are very proud of what we have done this year, however we are not stopping now. We lose three players in Michael Quinn, Dualta O Broin and Ciaran Redmond for next year. We will be competing in the A Championship and everyone is looking forward to the challenge already. We are also looking forward to an even stronger Under 21 representation on the Senior Team in the coming year.
Thanks again to the 'Great One' - Ciaran Redmond. If there is anyone still unsure about Ciaran's contribution to the players, just ask any one of us! We are also very appreciative to Bob Courteney for his efforts over the year.
So we're all finished for another year. Looking forward to next year already!

Good win against Naomh Fionnbarra last Saturday 3-13 to 1-8. Good all-round team performance. Final this Saturday against either Crumlin or Round Towers who play under lights on Wednesday night. Great to get to a hurling championship final and all support is welcome in our bid to win our first Under 21 Hurling Championship in many years. Time and venue to be confirmed.

The semi-final of the Under 21B championship is next on the agenda having beaten Cuala and Raheny in the two previous rounds. Although the fixture is set for this Saturday 29th, it has been postponed to Saturday week due to complications in the board. Having failed at this stage last year, the whole squad and management are very determined to go one better and win an Under 21 title for the club to add to the continued success of hurling in Na Fianna. The squad is more or less the same as last year so we are very hopeful. The squad is going in to the game full of confidence following the senior's recent victory in the relegation play-off to retain senior status. Similar support is requested next week.

Disappointing loss today in the league final against Craobh Chiaran. Two first half Craobh goals proved our down-fall. It was an uphill task after that. Despite a second half rally, we eventually succumbed by 2-6 to 0-8. Gutsy second half performance just wasn't enough. Thanks to all the members who came to support us.
This loss will not however overshadow a successful year. We exceeded our own expectations, and hope to go that step further in the coming year and capture the league and championship double. Thanks again to Eoghan Kenny and Ciaran Redmond for their help during the year.

Superb win today against Lucan Sarsfields in the semi-final of the league by 3-6 to 1-11. This win goes some way in banishing the dissapointment of the championship loss. Great performances all around the pitch, and it would be unfair to single out any particular players. Thanks to all who supported, and hope it was a bit more enjoyable than the championship! Craobh Ciaran next Saturday. Thanks to Ciaran Redmond for taking charge in Eoghan's absence. Looking forward to his further involvement next week and in the new season.
Team: Caomhin, Steo Fitz, Eamo, Dualta, Bernard, Sephie, Mattie, Mick Q, Mick Smith, Steo Behan, Niall, Brian C (Seamus C), Eoin R, Aidan D, Peadar.

Huge dissappointment in the Semi-final against St. Marks. The team just didnt perform and were beaten by the better team on the day. Notable exceptions were Caoimhin in goal, the full-back-line, Niall Cooper and Aidan Downes. Best of luck to St. Marks against Ballinteer in the final.
However all is not lost, as the league is still to play for in two weeks time. Also, the entire starting team is still eligible next year and everyone is looking forward to mounting another assault next year. With such a young team, and the experience gained this year, we are very hopeful of going that step further next year.
The league semi-final is fixed for the 25th of January against Lucan Sarsfields. It's great to see this young team competing at such a high level and once again all support is welcome.
The panel is made up of Minor, Junior C, Junior A and Intermediate players.
