The Trip to Belfast was a great success, our under 13 camogie team finished runners up having drawn one game and won the rest on the way to the Final,  The rest of the teams involved were under 14 so to finish runners up was great.  The girls played extremely well from the start drawing against Cork.  We knew this would be the toughest game and the girls gave it their all. But in the Final again against Cork the Girls ran out of steam (being up to 4am the previous morning might have something to do with it) but I have to say overall both myself and John were very pleased with the team performance.   Some great individual performances from Alva, Lucy, Aoife and Leah, with Aine, Brigette and Susan playing the best I have seen them play all year, and we cannot forget Laura who played in Goals for us in Amy's absence, She kept a clean sheet in all games right up to 5 mins from the end of the final and that was after constrant pressure for about 10 mins from the Cork forwards, but it was the overall team performance We were very proud of 'Well done girls'.  And we cannot forget our Boys who again played against all under 14 teams, they too made it to the final to be beaten by a very 'big strong' under 14 Cork Team - Well done to Colum and the boys.

The under 13 A Camogie team along with our Under 13 boys travel to Belfast this weekend to take part in an InterCity Blitz in celebration of the Belfast City Hall's Centenary.

The Girls are looking forward to finishing the year on a high and intend to give the teams taking part from the North, Cork and Birmigham a good challenge, They also intend on having a very enjoyable weekend - much thanks to Colum Muleady for doing most of the work in making the necessary arrangements

Oct 7th - Plunkets proved too strong for us again in the semi final of the Championship though Na Fianna put up a much stronger display this time around.  It just wasn't to be for the Under 13 A Camogie team this year.

17th September - Championship Update

Having been beaten by O. Plunketts on Sat 7th Sept much to everyones utter disappointed, the Under 13 girls were delighted to start the championship run off with a good win over Crumlin.

Result 6.1 to .1 point

with Beca, Alva, Laura, Orla, Eleanor and Fiona scoring.

The match overall was not a great display but a win is a win.

We will now meet again Plunkets in the Semi of the Championship and we are out for revenge.

We have already started preparations for this game on the 7th Oct with an excellent training session on Tuesday evening and will continue to prepare by playing a challenge game this Saturday V the Meath Under 13 development squad on RathOath's pitch on Saturday at 12.noon.

We also have an option of another challenge V RathOath under 14 camogie team, arrangements to be confirmed

League Div 1 under 13

Team 1 under 13 have started the 2006 season with two Challenge matches which went very well, Na Fianna won both but the purpose of the exercise was more around encouraging the girls to use the skills they learned in the latter part of 2005 and so far in 2006 - the girls rose to the challenge.

The League started well with a very good win over Crumlin but with two losses following that to our Key rivals, Vincents and Judes, it has not been a good start.   We had had an unlucky start with illness and injury and have not had our full team out for any of our games.

We kick started our season again with a great win V Plunkets on Wed night.  We knew it would be a tough one and having lost to both Vincents and Judes we knew we had to win this game. Up to now Plunkets had not been beated this year.

We had a bad start with Plunkets going up a goal within 5 minutes but we did come back with a fabulous point scored by Beca only for Plunkets to score another goal not long after.  But our girls didn't put their heads down and continued to battle. Beca then put in a goal to give us hope but again to be cancelled out by another Goal from Plunkets Centre Forward. Little ball was getting to our forward line but when it did not long before Half time Laura converted a good cross from her fellow corner forward Fiona and scored a goal which put us in contention at half time, being only 2 points behind.

The girls were well up for it in the second half, we changed some positions and put Leah on to marking their No 11, Leah did a great job, their centre forward was marked out of the game and they did not get a score at all in the second half where as Beca scored another point, followed by a great strike at goal by Ciara and sealed with a point from Orla and a point from a free from Alva in the dieing minutes of the game.  Our half back and full back line did great work in the second half, Aoife in full back never let their forwards near the ball and she was well supported by her two corner backs Katie and Anne and by a great half back line of Grainne, Leah and Aine.  Aine had the best game ever.

the Mid Field of Alva and Beca worked so hard especially in the second half and with great strikes from Beca and great blocks from Alva we won out in mid Field, Katie Pringle came on at half time having only joined the team recently as centre forward and showed great promise.  She was well supported by Lisa and Orla on the half forward line who both played a great game.and we cannot forget Amy in goals who after letting in a soft first goal which she believed was going wide made some excellent saves.

Overall it was a great performance, all the girls played really well, we need to build on this and the only way to do that is to ensure all 22 girls are at training and work hard.

Another great Win on thursday night 10th May V Bridgets. We started off slow with not much ball going to our forward line in the first 10 mins but after that we were very much in control. Lisa started the score with a very nice point from nearly the half way line and Khloe continued the scoring with a really brilliant goal taken on the Volley about half way through the first half.  This was followed by a really nice goal from Laura with a hand pass into the Net following a lovely solo run. Khloe continue the scoring with another goal followed by a goal from Ciara and class goal from Beca.  A strong defense with all 6 backs working very well meant the score at half time was 5:1 to 0:0.  Ciara started the second half with another goal followed later on by a point from both Beca and Alva.  Bridgets responded with a goal of their own in the second half.  In the second half we were able to give all the girls a good run and Brigette made a good impression on the half forward line when she came on though there were no more goals scored by us in the second half.  but it was a job done with the final score Na Fianna 6:3 to Bridgets 1:0.

Another good win in the league over Crokes the weekend.  we started a bit slow but once we got going the scores just kept going in.  Orla started the scoring with a very nice point followed by 3 very nice goals be Beca and another one from Laura who prevented a shot from beca Going wide by 'batting' into the Net from the Corner.   Crokes themselves scored a goal and 2 points in the first half but good work by our full back Aoife and the half back line ( grainne, leah and Susan) prevented any other attempts on goal.  In the second half we continued with the scoring whereas Amy had no work at all to do in our goal. In the second half we clocked up 3 Goals from Aisling who did very well when she came on as full forward, 2 goals from Eleanor when she came on as corner forward in the second half and 2 great goals from Khloe and a goal from Alva.  The final result 13:1 to 1:2

the final two games were easily won so we are now in the play offs V O. Plunketts on the 7th sept
